For the first time in DesignPhiladelphia history, we are formally recognizing the people whose work shapes the heart of our city with the DesignPhiladelphia Awards! I am extremely excited to celebrate the designers, planners, and visionaries who create spaces that serve everyone, ensuring that design remains an essential part of Philadelphia’s future.

Great design doesn’t just happen; it is built through persistence, problem-solving, and deep commitment. To me, these are the people who push through late nights, rework ideas to better serve the community, and fight for projects that make our neighborhoods more accessible, sustainable, and vibrant. I think we can all agree that design is not just an industry. It is the foundation of how we connect with the people around us.

The DesignPhiladelphia Awards will recognize excellence across disciplines like architecture, urban planning, social impact, emerging talent, and beyond. These awards don’t just highlight projects; they honor the individuals and teams making design more inclusive and responsive to the needs of our communities. This new awards program puts a spotlight on the changemakers shaping Philadelphia’s future. By celebrating their work, we are reinforcing the role of design as an essential force in civic life that drives progress and brings people together.
