DesignPhiladelphia is partnering with United Street Art's STEP OUTSIDE Show for a collaboration that connects two communities that shape the city's built environment in very different ways: architects, engineers, urban designers, and landscape architects, and the graffiti writers, sticker artists, and street artists who have long claimed public space as their canvas. The relationship between these worlds is both symbiotic and, at times, tense, but both have left an indelible mark on Philadelphia's streets, shaped by hip-hop, skate culture, and a public art legacy that includes the Mural Arts Program.

As part of the "Design Outside" collaboration, design chairs will be transformed into original works by street artists, on view as part of Evolution of Revolution, an exhibition curated and presented by STEP OUTSIDE at Platform X, and two limited edition T-shirts will be sold and proceeds will go to support both Step Outside and DesignPhiladelphia's public programming.
