Building upon the resounding success of the archival graphics exhibitions debuting in Milan and Chicago, the heart of Philadelphia at the Center for Architecture and Design proudly hosts its own tribute to the enduring legacy of Herman Miller. Step into a captivating visual journey spanning a hundred years of design excellence. From the timeless elegance of mid-century modern to the contemporary visions of today, this exhibit will transport you through the evolution of graphic design.
Every piece adorning the gallery wall serves a dual purpose - a celebration of design and a catalyst for change. Each item is available for silent auction, with all proceeds dedicated to the "Diversity in Design (DID) Collaborative." DID is on a mission to bring about systemic change by fostering diversity across all design disciplines. Protea's Keep - Kate Leibrand
"Protea's Keep" is a large-scale fiber installation created by Kate Leibrand that celebrates that power of transformation. The Protea flower, named after Greek god Proteus, is a symbol of the ability to adapt and the refusal to be stuck. Viewers can make their way around the free standing structure and observe the ebb and flow of color and detail. Whimsical depictions of the flower are interspersed with organic forms that are reminiscent of oceanic systems.
Cobbled Constructs - Jwcarino Design
Cobbled Constructs displays a uniquely composed intersection of craftsmanship and architectural design inspiration. This installation showcases a handcrafted shoe collection, coordinated accessories, and a visual narrative. John uses his architectural design interests including model building techniques and production of a graphic narrative to explore the relationship between architectural representations and sneaker craft.
The Wall Exhibition - School District of Philadelphia Career and Technical Education
Designs from various CTE Design programs in Graphic Design and Digital Media Production. The exhibition will include 2-D work that follows the theme of "Through the Violence comes a beautiful Light" It showcases a direct mission for the viewer to capture the talent of these young students despite the sigma of our youth captured in the light of violence.
Philadelphia Student Film Festival - School District of Philadelphia Career and Technical Education
Film programs from various CTE high schools around Philadelphia will screen award-winning videos from NFL Film Festival and other major student-awarded film competitions.
