Gensler believes in the power of design to create a better world. As we grapple with issues such as climate change, safety concerns, and attainable housing, we believe our shared future is grounded in maximizing the positive impact we can have in our city through great design. Embracing change, nurturing our strong Philadelphia culture, and supporting the development of purposefully designed, experiential places in our city will be key factors in our present and future success.

One of our biggest opportunities is to shift the conventional paradigm of single-purpose structures or districts toward a more multifaceted approach that aligns with the evolving desires of its citizens. Philadelphia's neighborhoods ooze unique characters, each contributing to the city's idiosyncratic identity. The challenge lies in crafting projects that not only align with the distinctive traits of these neighborhoods but also authentically support their individuality. The new urbanist principles fusing within the urban setting hold promise in this regard. By providing a comprehensive range of amenities within arm's reach, these developments empower residents to immerse themselves in the vibrant fabric of their neighborhood while cultivating a sense of belonging.

The essence of inclusivity and diversity takes center stage in these endeavors, echoing the very soul of Philadelphia. In this tapestry of cultures and perspectives, the challenge is to create spaces that genuinely resonate with all cultures and demographics. With the right level of community engagement, these proposed developments are primed to cultivate an identity that embraces all, offering experiences that cater to various walks of life. It's not just about being in the city; it's about the being of the city that reflects the values, stories, and aspirations that make Philadelphia a live mosaic.

Learning from past experiences like the Gallery at Market East’s single-use pitfalls, these projects offer a new perspective on urban programming. An ideal 24/7 community offers a dynamic and holistic urban experience where residents can seamlessly transition between life, work, and play within a cohesive and integrated environment. This holistic approach to urban living is the cornerstone of our planning approach, fostering genuine connections and enriching experiences.

In the grand tapestry of urban evolution, we are hopeful that Philadelphia's proposed developments emerge as brushstrokes of innovation and expression. Rooted in mixed-use principles, these spaces have the potential to celebrate the city's diversity while creating urban ecosystems that pulse with life 24/7. In the joy of celebrating Design Philadelphia and all the glory the city has to offer, Gensler has made a conscious decision to double down on our promise to propel Philadelphia neighborhoods forward with the expansion and renovation of our Center City office location in November.

Philadelphia's journey toward meaningful, connected, and immersive urban environments reflects not only its present aspirations but also its enduring commitment to shaping a future that resonates with the spirit of the city and its people.
