Outside In: Streetscapes |
Completed in 2024
In 2023 and 2024, MCPC and Derck and Edson collaborated on developing a revitalization plan for the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street in Collegeville Borough. The borough sought a plan to create a more vibrant and walkable Main Street while preserving the community’s existing historic architecture. The project team conducted outreach via a community survey, two public open houses, and meetings with a steering committee. MCPC focused on streetscape improvements, providing detailed concept plans for the locations of improved sidewalks, verges, crosswalks, driveway closures, and on-street parking. The concepts also proposed possibilities for an improved off-street parking lot in the borough with connections from 5th Avenue to Walnut Street. In addition to the streetscape and parking recommendations, the final plan contains renderings of enhancements to two key sites, a town square civic space, and a trail connection linking the Perkiomen Trail to Ursinus College, 5th Avenue, and Walnut Street.
