A state of the art medical-education building at Penn’s New Bolton Center campus elevates the large animal veterinary facility’s capabilities. We collaborated closely with the design and ownership team to site this new building sensitively within the existing pastoral landscape.
A native grassland berm screens the building and parking lot from the adjacent road, while providing a biophilic learning environment for faculty, students, and the equine patients who visit. The building flanks an amenity courtyard that provides opportunities for outdoor education and highly requested “decompression” space.
Our design showcases the inherent beauty of working landscapes, ecologically-healthy rural planting patterns, thoughtful relationship with neighboring properties, and holistic wellness.
