Wintergarden at Dilworth Park is a beloved seasonal pop-up that transforms the summer lawn into a whimsical, family-friendly winter escape in the heart of Philadelphia. Open throughout the colder months, the Wintergarden offers visitors a peaceful, festive space filled with twinkling lights and winter planting displays. It is designed to enhance the holiday experience at Dilworth Park and complement the adjacent Ice Rink & Cabin and the Holiday Market. Each year, Wintergarden evolves with new design elements, plant selections, and features to make every visit a unique experience.
A sustainable approach guides the selection of plant materials used in the installation. The plants are selected not only to provide seasonal beauty, but also to support pollinators and birds. The plantings are also chosen with long-term use in mind. After the Wintergarden season ends in late March, the plants are repurposed and distributed across Center City parks and streetscapes. This practice ensures that the Wintergarden contributes both to the seasonal experience and to the ongoing transformation of urban landscapes into more vibrant, green, and sustainable public spaces.
