Celebrating 25 Years of Open Studios! Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST) Returns October 19-27

This October, The Center for Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA) invites you to the 25th Annual Philadelphia Open Studio Tours (POST), a celebrated event offering an intimate glimpse into the creative processes of local artists. From painting and drawing to ceramics and metalworking, POST showcases the diverse community of Philadelphia's visual artists.

Since its modest start in 1999 with just 13 artists, led by Karen Brown and a dedicated team of volunteers, POST has evolved into a significant city-wide event. Managed by CFEVA since 2005, it has become a cornerstone of Philadelphia’s art community, connecting hundreds of artists with thousands of visitors each year.

Each year, more than 180 artists across over 20 neighborhoods open their studios to the public. This free, self-guided tour offers an unparalleled opportunity to explore the workspaces of artists, building connections that extend beyond the event.

Fostering Community Connection through Visual Art.

POST is more than just one art event; it’s a month-long celebration of Philadelphia as a creative hub of the region. Anyone with an interest in discovering art and artists can attend the open studios. POST attracts over 40,000 visitors annually, from families to individuals across a wide spectrum of interests in the arts. Ancillary activities like exhibitions, workshops, and artist talks add depth to the experience, making POST a dynamic cultural event that resonates with people of all ages and backgrounds.

For Philadelphia artist and longtime POST participant Mikel Elam, POST is a cherished opportunity to connect with the community. "POST has been a wonderful opportunity to open my studio to art lovers, patrons, and the curious," says Elam. He, like many artists, spends most of the year working independently, and POST offers a rare chance to share his work with new audiences. “Through POST, once a year, we get the chance to share what we’ve been doing throughout the year. It’s always joyous,” he adds.
