As part of DesignPhiladelphia 2025, we are proud to partner with PA – DE ASLA and SALT Design Studio to present Outside In: Exploration of Landscape Architecture that showcases the powerful role landscape architecture plays in shaping Philadelphia’s identity—from historic parks to climate-resilient urban spaces.
This year’s exhibit celebrates all that lends to the dynamic discipline of landscape architecture from national and international recognized projects, historic conservation practices, to the legacy of local firms, and including women and BIPOC designer, which will be a part of Design is Inclusive, a spotlight on diverse landscape architects and the Landscape Architecture Foundation’s (LAF) Fellowship Program, celebrating their contributions to the discipline. Visitors will explore how landscape architecture influences our environment, culture, and everyday experiences through an immersive installation with the use of sound, light, and texture to help enliven the featured projects. The exhibit will also include a compelling video presentation by those a part landscape architect community, offering insight into their work and its impact.
Projects will be organized by landscape typologies—urban parks, plazas, healing gardens, and waterfronts—highlighting unique design approaches. A timeline will trace key milestones in the profession’s evolution. While our digital and physical map will guide visitors to featured locations across Philadelphia, brought to life through guided tours, pop-ups, and workshops by local designers.
Outside In invites visitors to see Landscape Architecture through a new lens—one that values sustainability, equity, and the transformative power of inclusive design.
