Bleeds and Dies is a print production workshop that bridges the gap between theory and application to produce real world pieces.
Bleeds and Dies is a print production workshop created in 2022 to bridge the knowledge and theory taught in college with the production needs of the job market.
Set around Halloween every year, the program's title sits at the intersection of print terminology and spooky themes. The program's creator, Danielle Myers, has over fifteen years of print production experience, ranging from small publications and perfect-bound books to large-scale installations.
Myers breaks print production down into seven easy-to-follow steps. All attendees will be given a copy of the Bleeds and Dies booklet to be used as a print-production resource for future projects.
This iteration of Bleeds and Dies is presented in partnership with DesignPhiladelphia.
Hosted by Danielle Myers
Danielle Myers is a multidisciplinary artist, designer, writer, and professor based in Nashville, Tennessee. Believing art should live beyond the confines of traditional institutions, public practice and public art are at the core of her work. Myers’s installations are often site-specific, focused on feelings and community, and, most recently, highlight unjust laws and government actions. The message directs the medium. Aiming to have spectators become active participants, each piece only fully comes to fruition through individual engagement with the greater collective. Most of Myers’s works are co-collaborations through interaction, Myers’s creates pieces that are 50% her responsibility and 50% participant, inviting participants leave the engagement in introspection and self analysis.
