The Service Design Studio at the City of Philadelphia collaborates with City staff, advocates, and residents to design better City services. Through this presentation, the team will provide a brief overview of service design at the City, which aims to support both the people who use City services and those who deliver them.
The team will also share how they leverage participatory design methods to center equity when developing person-centered service solutions. To demonstrate what this approach looks like in practice, they’ll share examples from three projects: an ethical design research playbook, a toolkit to support equitable community engagement with historically underinvested communities, and a project where the team designed trauma-informed intake services for emergency housing with service participants and staff.
