Open-ended product design challenges are, well, challenging! A client may come to a design strategist with no clear direction beyond the intent to disrupt an industry. Trend research is one of the tools we use to come up with new ways to innovate. In this talk, Lead Design Strategist, Ryan Chen, will present a conceptual case study from the personal care industry to show how Bresslergroup might use trend research to lead to the insights that would lead to novel product concepts. Chen will begin with on overview of the socio-cultural megatrends he’s identified that are going to influence consumer value and behavior into the next decade.
Lead Design Strategist, Ryan Chen, studied Industrial Design at the National University of Singapore and earned an MBA from the University of Oxford. He has helped clients across industries and continents, including Samsung, Sony, Philips, and DesignSingapore Council, deliver meaningful products that started as ambiguous design challenges.
