Following the model of Creative Reaction Lab’s Equity-Centered Community Design Field Guide, Writers Room and Drexel Smart House are embarking on a year-long design process for a writers house—a place that would provide not just room for public programming but a cooperative living home for Drexel students and community residents. The goal is to catalyze other intergenerational houses nearby, creating a network of homeowners and student tenants whose shared interest in writing/storytelling forms the foundation for meaningful cohabitation.
Join us as we begin with the history of development in the Mantua and Powelton neighborhoods as told by our neighbors: a conversation with the Mantua Civic Association, Mount Vernon Manor, People’s Emergency Center, Powelton Village Civic Association, and the Department of History.
This event is the first in a series of three public talks + guided writing workshops. (Coffee + lunch provided.) Free, registration required.
