The Future of the Central Schuylkill Riverfronts
08:00 AM - 09:30 AM
Center for Architecture and Design
1218 Arch Street
James Templeton and George Claflen will discuss DAG’s new collaborative planning process for both banks of the central Schuylkill River. Working with volunteers, the Philadelphia City Planning Commission and a specialized consultant, DAG’s goal is to create a set of guidelines and/or zoning overlay document that could be adopted by the City.
DAG’s process includes initial data collection and analysis of existing master plans, proposals and potentially developable riverfront sites. Later, working with the City and stakeholders, a charrette process is envisioned.
James and George will also present earlier work referencing development along the Chicago River.
James is co-chair of DAG’s Waterfronts Task Force, along with Nando Micale, and George is DAG’s co-vice chair.
The Design Advocacy Group (DAG) serves as a public forum and advocate for design quality in the planning, architecture and physical development of Philadelphia.
