Cardboard City at DesignPhiladelphia 2017

American Institute of Architects, AIA

The American Institute of Architects advocates for the value of architecture and give architects the resources they need to do their best work. Their work drives positive change through the power of design.

Armstrong World Industries Foundation

The AWI Foundation is focused on making a positive difference in the lives of people where they live, work, learn, heal and play. They support programs that are dedicated to elevating the importance of design and buildings in people’s lives and that focus on those who are most in need, particularly under-served children and early childhood education.

NEW! The DesignPhiladelphia KidsFest brings architecture and design to our youngest visitors with fun and creative activities at various locations around the City. #DPKidsFest

Calling all young architects, planners, and builders help us build a gigantic cardboard city at the Barnes! Children and families can stop by anytime to try your hand at designing and building a skyscraper, a park, a row of houses, a school, a factory, the streetscape (or all of those!). Then add your creations to our growing skyline and watch the cardboard city grow.

WAIT. THERE’S MORE! Enjoy the First Sunday Family Day at the Barnes with art making, play, performance, and story time. Make it a day on the Parkway for the whole family!
